Kairi, also known as raw mango, is a seasonal fruit that is typically available in India during the summer months. Since it is unripe, it is used to add a tangy flavour to various dishes. It is also an excellent source of vitamin C and other essential nutrients, making it a healthy addition to your diet. This summer special kairi ki chutney is made in a desi style using a sil batta, which gives it its distinct taste. You can pair it with paratha, samosa, idli, sandwiches, or even vada. What Are The Health Benefits Of Kairi?
Kairi is an excellent source of vitamin C, which helps in the production of collagen. It also contains enzymes that aid in digestion and can help relieve digestive issues. Apart from this, kairi may also help lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels, as well as aid in weight loss. Another benefit of kairi is that it is good for the eyes since it contains vitamin A.
Kairi Ki Chutney Recipe: How To Make Kairi Ki Chutney
To make this chutney, first, take a fork and poke holes into the kairis. Put them on a wire mesh and roast them on a low flame until they become charred from the top and have a nice aroma. (Make sure to keep flipping them in between to allow them to cook from both sides.) Place the onions and garlic along with them and continue to roast.
Once done, transfer them to a plate and allow them to cool for some time. In the meanwhile, roast the red chilies. Now, gently remove the skin of the kairis, onions, and garlic, and cut them into small pieces. Place them on a sil batta and add salt, cumin powder, and red chilli powder. Grind them until smooth. (You can also use a grinder mixer if you do not have a traditional sil batta).
Next, add shredded coconut and grind again. Transfer to a bowl and garnish with fresh coriander leaves. Kairi ki chutney is ready!
